Cased Glass - Ruffled Tri-color,
Bride's Basket, Rose, White & Clear
Cased glass is defined as blown glass consisting of two or more fused
layers of different colours. The process
consists of introducing a gather of clear glass in a formed coloured
glass cup, blowing it out and shaping it in the normal way. A technique
well known in the past (a good example is the famous Portland
vase, dated between the
1st century AD and the 1st century BC), it became very common in
Bohemia and was popular during the last century in England and the USA.
A
terrific example of a Ruffled Bride's Basket. The Cased glass effect
works well with the ruffled edges. The colours are both bold and sharp.
The
basket measures approximately 4 inches in height and at it's widest
point measures almost 10 3/4 inches. The foot is 3 1/2 inches
in diameter and 1/2 inch high.

Crackle
Glass

Crackle Glass
Crackle glass was originally
made by the
Venetians, but most of the ware found today dates from the 1800s.
The
crackle effect is produced by briefly submerging the very hot
glass
into cold water during the glass-forming process.
This
causes the outer layer of glass to crack. When the glass is then
reheated and
expanded (by blowing into the blowpipe) the cracks grow larger. It was made in many factories in the
United States
and Europe |

End-of-Day Glass
Vase
"End-of-Day"
glass was any item made by the glass workers in their own time at the
end of the day using up the remaining molten glass in the pots. These
pieces tended to be a mixture of several colors and could take any
shape or form.
This vase easily fits into the definition of
"End-of-Day". The multi-colored vase stands approximately 8 inches high
and the opening is 3 1/2 inches at it's widest.
It has a unique curved shape with a six petal base.

End-of-Day Glass
Vase
A rich example of "End-of-Day glass. Even
though most of the options for colours were "what was left over", that
did not deter the craftsmen from applying their skills in forming the
glass objects. Ribbing has been applied in the mouth of the vase which
creates an interesting play of light.
The vase measures just under 9 inches in height and 3 3/4 inches in
diameter at the widest point.
